Wilson Audio and Spy Hop: Catalysts for Creativity in Youth
Wilson Audio is pleased to announce our support of Spy Hop as a part of The David A. Wilson & Sheryl Lee Wilson Divine Kinship Foundation. Spy Hop is Utah's only youth media arts organization and a global leader in high-quality arts education. Founded in 1999 as an alternative after-school tutoring program, Spy Hop served twelve students during its first year of operation. The organization has since grown exponentially and now serves over 14,000 students a year from more than 150 schools, making it one of the largest and most diverse youth media organizations in the United States. This growth and success are the results of Spy Hop’s ability to develop and deliver an engaging portfolio of programming that includes, in-school, after-school and community-based programs in film, audio, music, and digital design while providing a space and culture that encourage artistic and emotional expression.
Students work collaboratively with their peers and guided by professional media artists. In this safe and productive environment, students explore their creativity, identity, and career and higher education interests. Hands-on, project-based learning experiences help students build valuable skills while giving them a foundation in digital media technologies that prepare them for a future in the growing digital and creative economy. Each year, students create over 900 works, that include original music of several different genres, motion pictures, games, and several others. Spy Hop actively promotes and distributes the media to local, national and international audiences.
