December 9th, 2014 Transcript: Hello Readers. A little thing I picked up on yesterday was a Daily News Facebook post about LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers wearing “I can’t breathe” t-shirts during their warmup before a basketball game in Brooklyn. One commenter hoped the crowd had booed them, probably since a staple of media coverage of protests is how inconvenient they are for the larger public. Really? The social progress of centuries was unnecessarily demonstrated for when a portion of the public was already quite comfortable with the status quo? The police and public should have mutual respect and not this tarnished opinion of each other the bandwagon jumpers on both sides derive their profit from. Even British Royalty does public tours to secure brand recognition with police protection. If only balanced reporting were more than a myth.
Tomorrow.
