Should you buy Hogwarts Legacy?
This review is from the perspective of a non-Harry Potter fan, which may help those in the same boat decide whether Hogwarts Legacy is the game for you or not. You absolutely do not need to be a Harry Potter guru to play Hogwarts Legacy and enjoy it. But even though it’s set in the 1800s and takes place long before the story that’s explored in the books and movies, there’s clearly aspects to the lore and specific moments that are embedded into the narrative, that do feel like inside jokes between the hardcore fans and the developers of Hogwarts Legacy.
Hogwarts legacy is ultimately, an extremely well-rounded RPG, with an impressive amount of authentic mechanics and systems to indulge in, regardless of the source material that the games based on. There’s a story that could very easily persuade new comers to dive into the original lore of Harry Potter, not me personally, but still it’s very well written and you’d need to have lived under a rock for the past two decades to not recognise how faithful Avalanche have been to the original material.
