Windows Printer Test Page Evolution (Windows 95 - 11)
Here's how the Windows printer test page evolved from Windows 95 and NT 4.0 to Windows 11.
How to print a test page
Windows 3.1x (including Windows for Workgroups 3.1/3.11) and earlier, and Windows NT 3.51 and earlier both didn't have the option to print a test page.
Windows 95, NT 4.0, 98, 2000, and Me: Start → Printers, right-click a printer listed, and select Properties. The properties window opens, select Print Test Page.
Windows XP:
1.
Default Start menu: Start → Printers and Faxes
Classic Start menu: Start → Settings → Printers and Faxes
2. Right-click a printer listed, and select Properties. The properties window opens, select Print Test Page.
Windows Vista:
1.
Default Start menu: Start → Control Panel, and:
-- Control Panel Home: Hardware and Sound → Printers
-- Classic view: Double-click Printers
Classic Start menu: Start → Printers
2. Right-click a printer listed, and select Properties. The properties window opens, select Print Test Page.
Windows 7:
1. Start → Control Panel, and:
Viewing as Category: Hardware and Sound → Devices and Printers
Viewing as Large icons or Small icons: Devices and Printers
2. Right-click a printer listed, and select Printer properties. The properties window opens, select Print Test Page.
Windows 8:
1. Right-click the bottom-left corner or press Win+X and select Control Panel.

Viewing as Category: Hardware and Sound → Devices and Printers
Viewing as Large icons or Small icons: Devices and Printers
3. Right-click a printer listed, and select Printer properties. The properties window opens, select Print Test Page.
Windows 8.1:
1. Right-click the Start button or press Win+X and select Control Panel.

Viewing as Category: Hardware and Sound → Devices and Printers
Viewing as Large icons or Small icons: Devices and Printers
3. Right-click a printer listed, and select Printer properties. The properties window opens, select Print Test Page.
Windows 10 and 11 (Control Panel method, applies to all versions):
1. Open the Control Panel by any method (such as search or Run).
2.
Viewing as Category: Hardware and Sound → Devices and Printers
Viewing as Large icons or Small icons: Devices and Printers
3. Right-click a printer listed, and select Printer properties. The properties window opens, select Print Test Page.
Windows 10 versions 1803 and later (using the Settings app):
1. Settings → Devices → Printers & Scanners.
2. Select a printer listed, select Manage → Print a test page.
Windows 11 (using the Settings app):
1. Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
2. Select a printer listed, and select Print test page.
