Response Reduction Factor (R) in Seismic Analysis
It is not economically feasible to design the Elastic Structure. so, the elastic demand can be reduced by utilizing the ductility, material overstrength, redundancy and the structural damping . The combination of these factor is called Response Reduction Factor(R)/Response Modification Coefficient/Behavior Factor. The design force can be obtained by dividing the elastic design force with the factor (R).
