Haotian scooter repaired! Battery charging is back!
Three years – that's how long it took me to fix a problem on my Haotian Nitro 125 scooter. The battery wouldn't charge with the lights on. First, following your advice, I replaced the regulator – it didn't help. Then I replaced the stator with a new one (similar to the factory one, with 8 coils). Still nothing. I replaced the headlight with an LED – that didn't help either. Then I checked the entire wiring with a multimeter for a short or open circuit. Nothing – the wiring is fine. So what helped? I modified the electrical system: I replaced the 8-coil, 2-phase stator with a more powerful 11-coil, 3-phase one. This required replacing the regulator with a new 3-phase one. After reconnecting the wires, the battery charged again! Both with the lights off and on! The scooter is still wired up, so now I need to clean up the wiring and install new connectors. But it seems that after three years (the failure occurred in 2022) the fault has been eliminated!
