After a costly victory at Borodino, Napoleon entered Moscow—only to find it in flames. With no peace offer, he was forced to retreat.
But hunger, disease, and the brutal Russian winter devastated his army. Only 30.000 soldiers made it back. This defeat marked the beginning of Napoleon’s downfall.
