In this Video we are trying to show/execute DOS (Internal & External) commands in Windows 10 Shell prompt. Windows OS supports these commands as Internal commands in its shell prompt.
That means, these commands are built-in to Windows OS, but not originally MS-DOS commands.
Enter into the Shell or Command Prompt by typing cmd in Run dialog box.
If we talk about MS-DOS:
MSDOS stands for Microsoft Disk Operating System (16-bit OS).
MS-DOS is a single tasking, single user and is Command Line Interface based Operating System.
MS-DOS consists of three core files:
i.e.: command.com, io.sys, msdos.sys
The two types of MS-DOS commands are:
Internal and external.
The MS-DOS commands whose functions are internally available in the command.com file are called the internal commands.
External commands are kept as separate files (.exe or .com files), which helps to perform other additional actions in DOS.
DOS File Systems and Commands are not case sensitive (We can use either upper or lowercase letters).
Please watch upcoming Video: DOS COMMANDS (PART2) in Windows Environment.
Here, We are demonstrating all DOS commands in Windows (Command prompt) Environment only.
