When working on a project over a long period of time adding a whole new project into an existing one in SCENE becomes useful.
But it comes with some caveats. It can cause you to lose sleep over the fact that when you combine two (or more) projects into one, right after import the original transformation, of the project you already modeled, becomes "wrong".
Well, it does, but below are the steps to fix this issue... The steps are in line with the video:
1. Say your Boiler_House_REFERENCE project is done. It is properly rotated and the output from it is what you exported to ReCap for indexing and then import into Revit.
2. Finish your Chiller_Exterior_DONE project individually (unrelated to Boiler_House_REFERENCE). Lock the scan manager, save the project and exit.
3. Open the Boiler_House_REFERENCE again. Make a new cluster called “Combined” (or whatever) and move the “Boiler_House_REFERENCE” cluster into it.
4. Make sure the “Boiler_House_REFERENCE” scan manager is LOCKED!
5. Now import the “Chiller_Exterior_DONE” project as you did before.
Transformation of the “Project” is really RESET by this step! It is back to 0,0,0.
6. Move the new cluster “Chiller_Exterior_DONE” into the “Combined” cluster.
7. Mark the “Boiler_House_REFERENCE” as a “Reference” cluster (by setting this cluster's properties).
8. Confirm BOTH (or however many) clusters inside “Combined” have “LOCKED” scan managers!
9. Confirm your “anchor” cluster is truly marked as “REFERENCE CLUSTER”.
10. Now run registration between the “Boiler_Room_REFERENCE” and “Chiller_Exterior_DONE” by whatever means you decide.
Once registered, check if all is OK.
11. NOW re-input the transformation again on the “Project” level (all the way up).
12. Now SAVE (!!!!!!!!)
DONE
If you export FLS files now, they WILL fall back where they need in ReCap without you needing to RE-EXPORT the WHOLE project again!
