Many dog owners want to spare their dog stress because they think it overwhelms them and that stress automatically represents something negative. In my opinion, stress is often positive, sometimes even essential, for dogs to reduce insecurity and fear, develop beyond themselves, and become more confident in their behavior and social interactions with people and other dogs. Our dog daycare center also causes stress for some dogs. You can see what this looks like and where the balance between stress and overwhelm lies in this video.
