About Karen S. Reed
TEACHING
Dr. Reed is primarily involved in facilitating experiential learning in the undergraduate nursing program. Additionally, she designed and teaches a pre-nursing elective on cross-cultural communications in health care
RESEARCH
Dr. Reed’s scholarship focuses on three areas: developing professional development activities of international nurses in SE Asia, studying health disparities among international students attending US universities, and creating learning strategies which promote heightened engagement & understanding among nursing students.
SERVICE
Dr. Reed has a vision and passion for global nursing education. She was the first nurse to receive a Fulbright Scholar Award to Cambodia in 2013-2014. She has sustained the partnerships that she built by returning to Cambodia when possible, using her personal time and resources, to advocate for advancements in global nursing education.
