Make an American Flag in Adobe After Effects with two rectangles, one star, and no effects or plug-ins. It sounds simple until you realize the stars have a hard to describe pattern, when replicated from a single star. This is how I made it happen. It's not quite a tutorial and not quite a behind the scenes, if you work fast enough you can follow along to make your own flag of the United States using very few shapes with a lot of repeaters.

Below is the almost comprehensive list of the required components I used to build Old Glory from scratch. I may have left off a few properties that need to be changed to zero if they weren't drawn in the correct position, but this and the video should be all you need to replicate my results.
