Hello guys , This video is about understanding the need for double parenthesis and bash calculator in shell scripting to perform mathematical operations with examples. I started with explaining the limitation of shell to perform mathematical arithmetic operations along with examples . After that , I discussed the use of double parenthesis in shell scripting to perform arithmetic mathematical calculations on integers with examples. I briefly elaborated bc which is bash calculator that can be used to perform operations on floating numbers also along with integers. Examples on bc and double parenthesis are provided throughout the video.
After that , I discussed the difference between (( )) and $(( )) that is difference between double parenthesis with dollar and without dollar . At the end I elaborated the exit status code of parenthesis.
