The game is based on the 77th book in the Nancy Drew Mystery Stories series, "Bluebeard's Place." The main character, an inquisitive and fearless detective, travels to England to investigate a strange illness that has suddenly struck her friend Linda. After marrying an English diplomat and moving to his ancient family estate, Linda suddenly stops leaving the house and interacting with people. Once there, Nancy discovers a typical noble home rife with secrets, legends about the mysterious fates of distant relatives, and the age-old tale of a family curse, which Linda believes in. But something tells Nancy that the cause of the illness is far more prosaic, and the family curse theory is simply a distraction.
