http://www.firststepreading.com What is Phonics?
Phonics based reading is teaching children to read using Letter Sounds and Letter Symbols.
Letter Sounds are the sounds that Letters make. Letter Symbols are the Letter of the Alphabet.
Phonics lessons teach children to break apart words into their sounds in order to read and decode unfamiliar words in text.
To assist your child's learning of Letter Sounds, watch the Letter Sound Videos and use the Uppercase and Lowercase Flashcards.
When using the Uppercase and Lowercase Flashcards have your child tell you the sound that each letter makes (Upper and Lowercase Flashcards).
For additional practice with Letter Sounds, say a Letter Sound to your child and have your child find the correct Upper and Lowercase Letter Flashcard that makes that sound.
