Arizona since new 1966 F100 Ranger Full Restoration Series 2023 Video 1
Very poor sound quality from my apple phone. Can anyone suggest a good mic?
This is a very long term project that has been scattered about Since 2017.
1966 F100 Ranger bought new here in Arizona a extremely Rare Ranger with it's many rare options.
This truck was special ordered with Thunderbird Peacock Blue, Factory Black Bucket Seat Interior, It was also ordered with a dealer installed Jump Seat, Arm Rest, Storage unit vs the typical optional Console. Other options include the very very rare in a ranger factory 3 spd OverDrive Transmission, A/C Dealer installed as not a factory option in 1966, Power Steering, Power Brakes, AM Radio, Deluxe Heater, 2 spd Wipers with Washer and am sure I forgot some. This is a single color Ranger from factory not a more typical 2-Tone. Arizona dealer ordered but through a California dealer has California DSO so this truck was also delivered with California Emissions. I will be restoring it to as delivered, Family says the Rancher who bought it new was able to pick it up from Factory when new. Everything else I was told turned out to be true so it's quite possible.
It was also delivered with 1965 T-Bird hubcaps (spinner type) Still visible date on a couple matches build of truck.
In this new video series I will be starting off where it is today then follow through as I tackle each item until it's all completed. It will be quite the slow process and hope to have complete by Christmas time or Jan 1st.
This was a really lucky find in right place at right time. Same family since new.
Full restoration of every part that is restorable and NOS used where I can.
The 352 is original to truck, Transmission (3 speed OverDrive) being a ultra rare item in 1966 Ranger where there are only 2 known to exist or have existed is also original to truck.
Full Exhaust system Including muffler, brake and fuel lines are also original to truck and just restored to as like new condition I can get them.
With the Factory Overdrive I was getting 22 mpg highway which is incredible vs the typical 9-12 of these trucks depending on state of tune.
I upgraded just a couple items like Radial Tires and KYB Shocks. Lots of the wearable items were found NOS.
The Dash pad will be a NOS one I found 23 yrs ago, The instrument cluster is a Restored Original vs the typical Repop of which are very nice.
I will restore most if not all the trim although I do have a few NOS items. The Ranger Fender Inserts I have made my own so they are exact as possible.
Up first was cleaning the years of dust off frame. The body has been stripped to bare metal and the cab is currently up on my newly made rotisserie. After it's complete with doors hung and interior in then mounted on chassis the box will be next for rotisserie.
I have custom made stands for items like hood, fenders and doors.
I am unable to do much as video editing so it is one take then stitch together so will be a bit lacking. I will concentrate more on the quality of the restoration. There will be no music added in.
