How to compress files on MacBook:
Tip #1. Reduce the size of a .pdf file
Right-click a .pdf file - Open With - Preview
In Preview, go to File - Export - Quartz Filter - Reduce File Size - Save
If you want to free up more space, you could delete some unneeded system junk and old files.

Tip #2. Reduce the size of photos
Right-click any photo - Open With - Preview
In Preview, go to File - Export - Format - JPEG - Adjust the image quality - Save
Tip #3. Reduce the size of videos
Right-click any video - Open With - QuickTime Player
In QuickTime Player, go to File - Export As - Choose a lower video resolution - Save
Tip #4. Reduce the size of Word documents through Pages
In Pages, go to File - Reduce File Size - Reduce a Copy - Save
