►Nanmatol was the ceremonial and political center of the Saulte Levure dynasty, which helped unite the approximately 25,000 people on Pohnpei Island until 1628. Located between the main island of Pohnpei and Djemwen, the area saw human activity from the early 1st or 2nd century AD until approximately the 8th or 9th century AD. Construction of the islets began with large-scale stone architecture between 1180 and 1200 AD.
