Rare audio tape. Reverse engineer Philips EL3583 dictation machine. Historically important format.
A rare audio tape format with the catchy name EL-3779, is loaded automatically by the Philips EL 3583 office dictation machine from around 1964. It seems to use cassette width tape on an open reel recorder. But it won't even play a tape without its special microphone, so we're going to spend over an hour reverse engineering it from the schematics. This might even be a historically important format. This seemed to replace the earlier Philips EL 3581, which is what I thought I was going to be working on!
