Nicknamed White Death, The World's Best Sniper Ever: Simo Hayha
Some interesting information about the life of Finnish sniper Simon Hayha, known by the Red Army as the White Death.
He was arguably the best sniper in the world. He is Finnish.
Simo Hayha, who was actually a farmer, fought against the Russians occupying Finland between 1939 and 1940. Even though he had a 28 model Mosin Nagant rifle, he killed 505 Russian soldiers in nine months. He passed away on April 1, 2002, at the age of 96.
He is a sniper whose admirable aspect is not the number of kills he kills, but also the conditions and how he does it. This man, who was just a simple farmer when the Russians invaded his country, previously served in the army for 1 year. You know, he doesn't have any previous experience or a relevant job in this direction. While thinking about how he can help his country after the invasion, he comes to the conclusion that the best way to do this is to dive into a nearby forest with a few boxes of food and his old rifle and shoot the Russians passing by. Because the hottest conflicts took place in these forests with temperatures between minus 20 and 40 degrees. This friend, whose favorite ambush spot was hollow tree trunks, would wait patiently for his targets all day long, without moving.
The Russians were naturally terrified when they learned that dozens of their men had been shot by a dude hanging out in the jungle like Tarzan. Simo Hayha has already earned the nickname White Death. Perceiving this as a threat that needed to be cleared, the Russians immediately wanted to eliminate this problem by sending a special force. When the news came that all the men sent had been shot, they decided to be more serious and formed an anti-sniper group. Having cleared the entire group, Hayha scored around 542 with his rifle and around 150 with his father's heirloom SMG in 100 days. It is estimated that there are around 705 carcasses. The Russians, who are fed up with this guy, started firing artillery at the places they thought he might be. I would like to draw attention to the desperation here. The reason is that no one wants to go to their relatives anymore. As a result of this bombing, the Russians really managed to hit the white death. A ricocheting shrapnel pierced his jacket but did not leave much permanent damage.
Finally, I don't know if it's luck or fate, but some guy managed to shoot this in his face. The legend of the white death is over...
just for a few weeks! He regained consciousness on the last day of the war and lived a long life afterwards.
