The Saltee Islands, are a haven for sea birds, with an impressive array of species breeding on the cliffs, from Gannets, Razorbills, Guillemots, Greater Black-backed gulls to Puffins and Manx Shearwaters. The Saltees are an important migratory route and a popular stopping-off place for spring and autumn migrant birds. The Great Saltee also has a breeding population of Grey Seals, with up to 120 animals are present in autumn and up to 20 pups are produced on an annual basis.
