A Golden Summer
The summer sun cast a golden coating across the horizon at Big Bear Valley this morning. Our lovebirds Jackie & Shadow were content on the Lookout Snag, taking in the scenery. Big Bear’s great eagle parents seemed relaxed as a new week lay ahead.
Meanwhile, Luna departed from the Y branch of the nest early this morning, but not before emitting a poop slice for the world to see. Sandy followed her brother moments later to soar the blue skies. He then took a break on the Cactus Snag, with Sandy close by on the Sunny Hideout. From the tiny little feathered friends milling about it appears they may have gone birdwatching together.
Shadow must have sensed they might be a bit hungry from their sunrise flights and morning activities, so he went fishing and brought a nice catch to the nest. If you blinked, you would have missed how quickly Luna showed up for breakfast!
Sandy was enjoying a beautiful moment on the Lookout Snag with Mom Jackie, when the dinner bell rang. She quickly arrived back to the nest for some vittles, landing on the Attic. As she sat atop the branch, she gracefully tilted her wing down as if to say “save some for me” before joining in for her morning fill. Shadow posed adorably for the camera looking very proud of his kids.
Later on, we caught Luna back on the Cactus Snag hiding behind the pine needles while Sandy was again perched in the Sunny Hideout. These two siblings have been enjoying lots of quality time together exploring!
Shadow made an appearance back at the nest with a talon full of fish. He looked around, and since the nest was vacant, he partook in a well-deserved meal of his own before heading over to the Simba Tree.
From this morning's honey-drenched glow, the beautiful visiting juvenile on the Headless Tree, to Sandy and Luna’s afternoon return to the nest after their daily explorations, we watch with effortless joy. The sunlit warmth allows us to give pause, and soak in the magic of this golden summer in Big Bear Valley. Thank you, Eagle family, for allowing us this unhurried peace and presence in your moment.
