Product Info: Get ready for creative, innovative, versatile, fun that's totally "OOOnique." It's a new and breakthrough toy called the Oonies from Moose toys. Probably the simplest way to describe this is that they are small balloons you can play with, build with customize and, of course, pop.To get started, you need the starter pack, which includes 36 Oonies pellets, the Oonies inflator and stick-on accessories that let you creatively customize your characters. The baisc pellets are small, squishy and sticky pieces with a base, a neck and a rounded top.
Here's how you make a pellet into an Oonie. Remove the capsule from the inflator, turning it toward the unlocked position. Open it up, and insert the pellet. You'll want to be careful to seat the neck of the pellet in the curved space at the bottom of the capsule with the rounded top inside. Close it carefully so the neck is held firmly in place and the pellet's base is on the outside. Take your time with this because seating the pellet correctly is one of the tricks of successful Oonie inflation. Then press the plunger in the capsule down until it clicks into place. Put the capsule back into the inflator and turn toward the picture of the lock to secure it in place. Push the orange lever down so that it locks in place. This creates a seal. It also raises a needle through the bottom of the Oonie, must like the pin you would use to inflate a soccer ball or basketball. Because this is doubly sealed, there's no way little hands can get to it.
Once it's securely in place, hold the inflator steady with one hand and activate the pump. What we found works best is to give it a few quick initial pumps until you see the Oonie start to inflate. Then slow down to inflate it to the size you want. It may take a little trial and error to get the right sizes. When you've got it just right, lift the orange lever, which withdraws the needle and allows the Oonie to seal itself, twist the capsule to the unlock position and lift up. Then, slowly open the capsule and remove your inflated Oonie. Then you're ready to play.
Use all the included pieces to accessorize and design your Oonies creation. You can also use these to play games, and you can always ,sneak up behind people and pop them. This is one of those toys that once you pick it up, you really can't put it down. It's as much fun to simply fiddle with as it is to create.
And, since you'll probably going to go through these pretty fast, you'll want to make sure you have the Mega Refill pack, which includes 90 Oonies Pellets and various themed sets, which we've reviewed and are sold separately. Once inflated, the Oonies stay full for a decent amount of time, and you'll be able to play with them in as many ways as you can imagine. (We've had some that have stayed inflated as much as a week or more.) This is classic fun that we think everyone will love because it's....OOniversal.
