Every now and then, a "proof" that pi is equal to four circulates on the internet. It starts with a square with a side of one that is folded over a circle with a diameter of one. With each step, the outside corners are turned inward, and when doing so, the perimeter does not change: it remains 4. So, after infinite steps, the figure would be equal to the circle, which has a perimeter π. And this would prove that π = 4.
