How Hannibal's Riders Fought Without Saddles
The Numidian cavalry were unlike anything Rome had ever faced. Hannibal’s light horsemen rode without saddles, bridles, or stirrups. They could command their horses to lie flat, scout enemy camps unseen, and strike with hit-and-run javelin attacks. These riders became the eyes and ears of Hannibal’s invasion.
