“System Restore does not appear to be functioning correctly on this system. The shadow copy provider had an error. Check the System and Application event logs for more information. (0x80042306)”

Disk Analysis Commands:
System File Checker
Command: sfc /scannow
This tool allows you to repair corrupt system files
Check Disk
Command: chkdsk /f /r
CHKDSK /F: Check and fix file system errors.
CHKDSK /R: Does the same, but also locates bad sectors on the disk and tries to recover readable data.
You may just want to run CHKDSK /F since it is faster
Deployment Image Servicing and Management
Command: Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Checks for corruption and repairs problems in the current installed Windows OS
