Just fooling around with my workstation. Downloaded the source code for xroach and compiled it. It's a silly program that has roaches crawling all over your screen. I first saw it on a friend's Linux workstation back in the mid/late 90s. Xroach is from 1991. Neko (or in the Linux world Oneko) is from 1988 originally. And then the animated cat, that too is from the 1980s, originally written to work on the X10 windowing system - either on a Plan 9 or DEC UNIX system. One of the original creators of the animated cat clock ported it over from it's old code to modern code so that it could be compiled to run on a modern Linux, MacOS or BSD system.
