Last year, Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid came to Operating Engineers 324 with interest in filming a short-form documentary to air on Public Television showcasing some of the work - and some of the training, members, and instructors - doing the Infrastructure work building America. We partnered with them and the team at Bridging North America to showcase the work currently building the Gordie Howe International Bridge, and a few of the many highly skilled Operating Engineers accomplishing this work.
The video features #OE324 Graduated Apprentice (and 2021 MASCI Apprentice of the Year nominee) Alan Sutton, Journeyperson Kecia Harper, and OE324 JATF Instructor and Apprentice Coordinator John Haberkorn. They talk about the bridge project, one of the most massive and impressive projects in North America, and the work they are undertaking to build it. They also talk about their stories, the value and lifelong reward of #OE324 Registered Apprenticeship training, and the lifelong careers they offer.
The video will be broadcast on PBS stations starting next week, as well as on other news and informational channels.
