Move cursor by sliding across space bar.
There are a plethora of useful and interesting shortcuts for Google's Gboard — the default "stock" keyboard for Android as a platform — that can save you time and make text inputting easier, more efficient, and effective. And chances are, you're unaware that the majority of them exist.
Have you ever been typing an email or a chat message when you realise you need to add or change something several characters back?
Simply place your finger on the space bar and slide it to the left or right without lifting it up. This works, it will move your cursor and allow you to place it wherever you need it. 👍
Don't be alarmed if the sliding on the space bar doesn't work: Simply tap the gear-shaped icon in Gboard's upper row (or, if you don't see that icon, tap the three-dot menu icon in that same area and then find the gear icon in the larger menu that appears). Select "Glide typing" from the keyboard's settings and make sure the toggle next to "Enable gesture cursor control" is turned on.
