About Austin Bleeding Edge
This group began life as a Sencha/Ext JS focused group, but we decided that there's simply too much interesting stuff going on in web app development today to limit ourselves to a single technology. We'll still discuss Ext (and especially Sencha Touch) when relevant, but our newly-expanded focus is on keeping up with the latest trends in the overall web application space. Regardless of your specific background or current technical stack, anyone who wants to be a well-rounded developer and keep a finger on the pulse of modern development will love this group.

Customize Your Workflow.js with the Bleeding Edge Web Meetup
Development is hard, but it can be easier and more enjoyable with the right workflow and the right tools. Learn how to boost your productivity with your own workflow apps. This event will highlight use of several JavaScript technologies, including Node.js & node-webkit.
OVERVIEW
We'll discuss the experience of creating a workflow tool called Fenix Web Server (http://fenixwebserver.com). Fenix is a beautifully simple desktop application that serves static websites and (optionally) shares sites publicly for peer review. The app overcomes several commonly overlooked workflow bottlenecks that occur in most web projects.
DISCUSSION
The discussion will include:
• Review why time & resources were invested in workflow tooling.
• Overview of available technologies.
• Decisions that drove development & specific technology choices.
• Tech stack review: Node-Webkit, npm module choices, HTML5, CSS, installation utilities, & development patterns.
• Where to start building your own workflow tools.
Attendees will leave this talk with an introspective view of their own workflow and tips to start building their own productivity-enhancing apps.
