The predictions from global or regional scale climate models are often too coarse for direct use at local scales. Statistical downscaling is a method used to predict local climate variables such as air temperature from global or regional scale models. Orhun Aydin from Esri’s Spatial Statistics Team presents a GIS-centric method for downscaling the Canadian Coupled Global Climate Model (CGCM).
