Qualified audiovisual translators have to complete many years of schooling in addition to many years of language acquisition, often earning master's or doctorate degrees. There is no shortage of these highly educated professionals. The problem in the industry is actually the lack of respect that audiovisual translators tend to receive. Veteran audiovisual translators Ms. Isabelle Miller and Ms. Debora Blake of France's ATAA, Association des traducteurs/adaptateurs de l’audiovisuel, are working fearlessly and tirelessly to change that.
