The Upstairs, which was formed on October 5, 2001, is a nu wave band from Jakarta. Jimi Multhazam (vocalist) and Kubil Idris (guitarist) were the founding figures of this band. Influenced musically from new wave bands such as A Flock of Seagulls, Devo, Depeche Mode, to Joy Division, they finally agreed to carry that kind of music.
