I put together a small hardware synth setup using the Roland MC-101, Korg Volca FM2, and Korg Volca Keys, and it ended up being way more fun and playable than I expected.
In this video, I show how I connect and sync everything with MIDI, use the MC-101 as the main brain and sequencer, and build drum patterns, chord progressions, and bass lines on the Volcas. I also walk through how I jam with the setup and perform the beat live using mutes, filters, arpeggiators, and parameter changes.
If you’re into small synth setups, hardware jams, DAWless or hybrid workflows, or looking for a compact setup that’s actually fun to play, this video should give you some ideas.
