One Way Dream - Live from San Diego | Sonic Symphony World Tour
I had the privilege to go to a second Sonic Symphony, this one being in San Diego (as you can infer from the title). After enjoying the sweet, symphonic renditions of some of Sonic’s greatest tracks and pushing my lungs to the absolute limit with the second half’s rock ‘n’ rap gauntlet, this was a wonderful surprise.
I’m not the one recording. That was my dad, who bought us the tickets for the show as an early birthday present when we found out that the symphony would be doing more shows. When we were told that One Way Dream was our final surprise, I insisted he record it from start to end. Thanks, Dad. You’re way past cool!
One Way Dream is a song that speaks to me. It’s easy to make fun of Sonic Team for creating a song that essentially says “We’ve been crap for years, but we’re still trying!”, but the child in me hears the song and can’t help but think of hope. This new rendition was beautiful, a perfect cap-off to the ultimate celebration of Sonic the Hedgehog and its community. Here’s to everyone reaching their one way dream.
