Dolby atmos on PS4 demo in 4K, will it work? Vudu, blu ray, Netflix
This is just a video illustrating whether or not the PlayStation 4 will perform decoding in Dolby Atmos surround sound. It is of the belief that the PlayStation 4 will not decode the surround sound format Dolby Atmos. While that may be true with one service it is not true and other aspects. The PS4 is no Oppo udp-203 or 205 however it does have great potential utilized with a receiver that performs 4K Ultra HD High dynamic range upscaling and pass-through. With the proper setup and Surround Sound layout the PlayStation 4 can surpass many other Blu-ray players even Ultra HD Blu-ray players in terms of performance. With the opportunity of selecting sound output formats linear PCM bitstream Dolby Digital bitstream DTS digital theater surround, the PlayStation 4 can offer several different types of decoding and can sound great doing so. When the PlayStation 4 is specifically paired with certain Sony Ultra high-definition HDR televisions you can actually select High dynamic range settings inside of the television menu also select HDR settings in the receiver or surround processor and utilize high-dynamic-range when playing multiple video games and streaming services alike.
