The recording of the network programmability stream which occurred on 2020/1/2 - part of 2-week stream marathon which started on 2019-12-23
During this marathon the plan is to stream almost every day.
My selected project for the first week is performance testing of different network automation tools: Ansible / Python + Nornir / Python + asyncio / Golang. I want to build a huge lab (1000 devices) and test how well these tools perform with the same tasks. This will be later summarized in a blog article.
On this stream we were finalizing our GNS3 lab containing 500 routers:
separating some tasks like building topology, starting, stopping, deleting nodes
writing a script to connect to every device and generate crypto key for SSH access
Timecode:
0:00 – Introduction
1:45 – The state of the project: what have been done and what still needs to be done
6:05 – Troubleshooting incorrect router number (TL;DR: reboot helped)
34:30 – Writing a script to delete nodes
... WIP
3:06:00 – Conclusions, summary and wrap-up
Please note that this content is stream-first and it is slow-paced by design. I recommend increasing playback speed in the player settings.
