Guinea Pig Lap Time Routine: How to Cuddle With Your Pigs!
Getting into a lap time routine with your guinea pigs can sound easier than it is! These tips with help you and your guinea pigs to RELAX more, helping you cuddle them, bond with them and make them more tame and less scared. They might even fall asleep on you! See how we do lap time with four guinea pigs and how they gradually become more chilled out and sleepy. Especially Lyra!
CHILL OUT TIPS:
1. Choose a different room in the house, away from the cage for lap time.
2. Provide your guinea pigs with a box or carrier nearby so you can easily pop them back in when they need the toilet.
3. Set up the area in advance, I recommend using a waterproof fleece liner so you don’t have to worry about any accidents. And use a fleece blanket rather than a cosy bed or sack that they might trap each other in.
4. Combine hand feeding with lap time to help build trust with your piggies.
5. Talk to them, and listen to their noises, learn when they are agitated and when they start to become more relaxed! Stroke them and talk to them to calm them down.
6. Get into a routine, the more often you do lap time, the quicker you will see the benefits!
