Everyone is racing to make "the next TikTok" in case their favorite video sharing platform is on the way out. What won't surprise anyone is that Instagram has entered the field, and their version, called Instagram Reels, just might be the best TikTok replacement yet. While IG Reels has a decent sound library, it doesn’t have some sounds you might want to use for your videos, such as songs you’ve created or popular sounds from TikTok/YouTube. Yet there’s no easy way to add your own custom sound/song/audio to videos in the app itself. In this tutorial, I'll show you how to add any sound, music, or audio to your IG Reels videos even if that sound isn't available in the app. All you need is the link to the custom audio clip you want to use. We’re using Kapwing, a free online editor that works in the browser of any phone or laptop. No app downloads necessary!
There are 6 steps:
1. Open Kapwing's Studio https://www.kapwing.com/studio
2. Upload your Reels video. Make sure the aspect ratio is 9:16 and the video is 15 seconds or less.
3. Upload or paste a link to the sound you want to use in the “Audio” tab
4. Click "Export Video" and wait
5. Download your video from Kapwing
6. Upload your video to IG Reels
