Enabling No-Lag Mode is easy, but there's one thing you need to do every time you use it. Learn the trick to getting Run-Ahead setup right and see demonstrations of why it's important. RetroArch's new feature removes the built-in 1-6 frames of input lag present in most games.
Instructions:
1 Start a game and enter a level
2 Press "p" to pause emulation (but don't pause the game!)
3 Hold down the button for an action such as jump or fire
4 Press "k" to advance one frame at a time until the game reacts to your action
5 Count the blank frames of animation before the game reacted. This is the "Number of Frames to Run Ahead" (AKA Frame Advance) setting for the game
6 Repeat processs for every game
Enabling Run-Ahead in RetroArch:
1 Go to Settings - Latency
2 Enable "Run-Ahead to Reduce Latency"
3 Set "Number of Frames to Run Ahead" from above
4 Enable "Runahead Use Second Instance" if you have a powerful system. If you experience performance problems, disable this.
