Most of the common issues you encounter when using a poor built miter saw fence are miter saw fence not being straight or not square. A good chop saw fence system should be zero clearance.

The fence presented in this video is an aluminum-built jig and you can also add an extension kit to make it fully versatile.

Why Do You Need a Miter Saw Fence?

There are many worthwhile reasons for adding a sacrificial fence to your miter saw.
• You will minimize the chance of small pieces of wood becoming dangerous projectiles
• It gives you added support
• You will much less likely experience tear out from the back of the cut
• You can write notes on the fence; it is particularly handy if you are working with complex angles (I use this one a lot!!!)
• You can add a stop block
• Marking up the next cut is simplified by using the line in the fence
• A fence is handy if you are making frames
• You will enjoy increased accuracy on 90-degree straight cuts
