In this video Jason discusses how to run a Trade Partner Weekly Tactical, or what is known sometimes as the weekly sub/trade meeting, or weekly work planning meeting. Check out how to run this meeting for full effect.
Trade Partner Weekly Tactical
The purpose of the trade partner weekly tactical is to create the weekly work plan for the next week and to lead the project on a weekly tactical basis with all other trade partners on-site. You will do this with the trade partner superintendents and foremen. The agenda for this meeting includes:
• Positive shout outs - Begin with two to four positive comments to begin the meeting in an awesome way.
• Lightning round - The lightning round is described in Patrick Lencioni’s book, Death by Meeting: A Leadership Fable...About Solving the Most Painful Problem in Business, and consists of a collection of bullet point agenda items obtained by going around the room and giving each person 30 seconds to make agenda additions for the meeting. The leader of the meeting then makes sure the most critical items are done within the allotted amount of time.
• General safety - Discuss safety as your number one value on the project site and within the team.
• Review takt plan - Review the overall takt plan to understand the progression of the project.
• Review last week - Review last week's progress and commitments and report on the percent plan complete score and variances.
• Review current progress - Review current progress to ensure everything is on track and make any needed corrections.
• Create a weekly work plan - Create a weekly work plan with the trade partners that is 100% committed to and that can be executed on a daily basis in the field with all of the trade partners and last planners.
• Review key milestones - Review the key milestones of the project that will get people thinking about roadblocks. Review the key milestones of the project and make sure that there's alignment in your meeting.
• Review roadblocks - Review roadblocks on a visual map. Systematically remove them and make assignments.
• Review Plus/Delta - Reflect with the team on the good parts of the meeting and what should be done differently in the future to make for a more remarkable meeting.
