Magnetic Window Cleaner ONLY for Single Glazed Windows Fits 0.1"-0.3" Window Thickness.
First the backstory of why my windows have been dirty so long. I live in an older building, built in 1925 and I'm sure these windows are the original panes of glass.
We used to have window washers come and clean our windows, twice a year till several years ago there was some damage done to the roof's edge decore and after that, they said no more. Needless to say, being downtown, the dirt on the outer side of the window was starting to get thick with pollen, soot from car exhaust, etc...
I saw this magnetic window cleaner on Amazon and since I can't climb out on the ledge and do my own windows, I thought I'd give this device a shot. I read the reviews and they were pretty mixed. Some liked it and said it did a great job and others didn't like it saying that it didn't work but I wanted to find out for myself. If it didn't work, I can always return it. But one IMPORTANT NOTE is that you have to find the right one depending on the thickness of your window. My windows were single pane so I only needed the one for single-pane windows. If your windows are double pane, then you'll need the ones with the stronger magnets since the two parts will be further apart.
Well, I was impressed with the final results. BUT...you'll have to be patient and take your time. Depending on how dirty your windows are, one thing you'll have to repeatedly do is clean the outer cloth. My windows were so dirty that the dirt builds up on the outer cloth was so fast that just after a couple wipes that I had to bring it in and wash it to continue. I was starting off using just Windex but I suggest just start off with just using plain ol' soap and water. THEN after you get most of the dirt off you can start spraying Windex on the cloth, along with soap and water.
Once the dirt streaks are at their minimum I then sprayed the outside of my window with Windex, removed the cloth from the outside half of the cleaning bar, and just used the squeegee feature of the device to remove all remaining liquid. If you are seeing some dirty streaks from the squeegee, get a clean rag, and wipe clean the rubber blades and continue.
As I said, there is a little work to do involving getting the window clean but I am very happy with the results as I'm sure you will be too. Just be patient, go slow, and take your time.
