Introduction
In Lighting principles with VRay we'll start talking about basic lighting workflow useful to light a character or a single object trying to obtain a nice result and understanding how to light it.
What we'll do
In this video we'll start talking about lighting with VRay, so we'll take a look at various light sources as the spherical, planar and dome light, trying to understand the most important and useful parameters to control light intensity, coloring, shadows quality, and to decide if the light is interacting with the diffuse, reflectity and/or reflection of a given material. We'll see how to manage the area shadows depending on light position, area light shape scaling and sampling. We'll talk about the VRay Light lister to show how to manage the complete light rig from a single viewport in a simple and fast way. Working with the various light sources we'll try to explain how to prepare a simple 3-point light right working with keylight, fill light and rim light, and then we'll see how to add some additional effects as reflection lights and more fill lights to have a better result. Finally we'll see how to use some shading tricks to help lighting to achieve right rim light effect over the character body.
