In 2017, I started taking a selfie every day. Altogether, I worked on this timelapse for 10 years, making it the longest I have ever focused on a single video idea. The continuation itself was probably the most interesting part of the project and how quickly it turned into a daily routine.
In May 2026, I finished the project, and it still feels strange not taking a picture of myself as part of my daily habits anymore.
During those years, I shaved my head and also experimented with a more androgynous look. While I had constantly changing hair lengths and colors in the years before, this video captures a more monochrome era of my life.
A lot has happened throughout those 10 years, and watching the video now from a retrospective point of view, I can clearly see the different phases, the personal growth, the good and the bad times, the continuous shifts in life, and ultimately a multifaceted and exciting journey of and to myself.
