In this video you will deploy an Ubuntu 20.04 on Hetzner. You will then see how to log into your Hetzner server via SSH. I will use Git Bash to log in but you can use the Terminal on Linux or Mac.

Hi and welcome to this Hetzner tutorial. In this tutorial I'm going to show you how you can deploy Ubuntu on your Hetzner cloud.
We're going to deploy a vps server with ubuntu. Under cloud, that's where you'll find VPS's. Under dedicated these are dedicated servers. Just click on them and you can see the type of the server that you can deploy. Then you also have other services here.
You can use the Heztner DNS management software. You can also register domains.
And then volume. You can add a volume if you need to add more space. Just click there for more details. If you need to add more space on your server you can click there and you can choose a volume that you want to add. Maybe you want to add 20 GB. That's going to cost you that, per month.
Okay. You can add additional space on your VPS if you want to. I'm going to cancel. Networks, if you want to enable VPC that is virtual private networks
in the same data center, you can do that. Maybe you want to create multiple VPSes and you want them to be to be on a private network, you can create a network here.
That's something that you can do there. I'll just cancel. And then firewalls, you can set up your firewalls or you can just use the inbuilt firewall in your OS. You can use the inbuilt firewall in your operating system once you install your operating system which is Ubuntu. You can set up the firewall rules in your operating system. So I'm going to just forget about this but you can set that up as well .
If you come there you'll find that. You can add the rules that you want to add .
So we've chosen Ubuntu. Network. We've ignored that . Firewalls, we've ignored that one as well.
Additional features. User data init. If you do have some configuration files that you want to run when your VPS is being set up, you can do that there. During the setup for your VPS you can add the configuration files there .
If you want to enable backups you can enable backups. Just click there .
Backups are 20% of the server price so if you do choose a different server,
the monthly price for the server will increase by 20%. All right? These are the important ones. User data or backups. And then SSH. If you want to add SSH you can click there to add ssh. If you generate SSH keys you can add the public key here. If you want to set up SSH
keys, I do have a tutorial for this. A very intense tutorial. Once you deploy your Ubuntu server just come here. I will add this link in the description and you can set up your server. It says Debian 10 but it's going to work with Ubuntu as well. So you can check that. You can just come in here and follow along with this to set up your server so that you can install whatever you want to install after setting it up. You can also watch this video to see how to set up the server.
I'll just clear the screen and the first thing that you need to do as soon as you get your new VPS is to update the vps. I'm going to do sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y .
And that should upgrade all my packages. And once that is done the next thing for you is to set up your server. The initial server setup is very important if you want to run a website, so just go to this link in the description and follow the steps. You'll create a new user so that you don't have to use root and then you can set up SSH authentication so that you can log in using the keys and then once you do that you will disable the root user from logging in and you'll also disable password authentication so that people can only log in using the keys
that you set up. And if you don't want to install Kubernetes or anything that has a problem with swap files, you can add a swap location for your server so that you can increase the memory;
the artificial memory that you have on your server.
