17th century... Lincolnshire... England. Young Isaac Newton was resting by a tree in his garden when an apple fell on him. Newton began to wonder why the apple fell vertically and not sideways, and this led him to the process of discovering the universal laws of gravitation. This story has been told to every child who learns about Newton for generations. Actually, there is no source confirming that the story happened exactly this way. However, it is known that Newton told those around him that apples or other objects falling on him were a source of inspiration. The likely reason the story has been passed down through generations in this way is that it shows how a modern scientist's way of thinking works.
