[Synopsis]
This video shows you how to run the ePSXe emulator. The Sony Playstation was one of the best video game consoles I ever had. I still have a lot of games for the Playstation 1, but I don't have a Playstation to run it on. I have over 100 PS1 games at my parent's garage, so I will be running them on this emulator. The ePSXe emulator, like most emulators of this type enable you to run both ISO files, and the original CD-ROMs as well. You can turn your CD-ROMs into ISO files, put the files on your hard drive, and run them on your computer. It is less cumbersome than swapping CD-ROMs,.
If you want to archive old games, the best way to do it is by using a application, like 7zip. Zipping files enables you to reduce the size of files. This way, you can store more files in your hard drive. Having a emulator, like this enables you to put your entire library of retro games on your hard drive. If you live in a small apartment, having everything in a few small high capacity hard drives would be ideal. Having 50 to 200 CD-ROMs in jewel cases takes up a lot of space, it takes much more space than having it all on a 2.5" or 3.5" hard drive.
As for compatibility issues, I tested about 20 games on it, and 18 games worked. That is pretty good. It can't beat the original hardware, but it makes up for it by saving a lot of space. The Playstation 1 had a very large library of games to choose from, and the lifespan of the PS1 was from Dec 1994 to late 2000. There are hundreds of games for the PS1, and they are still widely available on websites, like Amazon, E-bay, and others. I didn't play every PS1 game, and there are games I wanted to play but never tried. Back in the 1990s, I didn't have a lot of disposable income, but now I have a lot more disposal income. Now, I will be able to buy these games, and play them on my ePSXe emulator. The media format for the PS1 was a standard CD-ROM, and they will work on a modern DVD-RW/DVD-ROM drive. CD-ROMs from the 1990s will work on modern optical drives in computers, because they are backwards compatible.
