OSPF Timers

OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) is a routing protocol used in computer networks to determine the best path for data packets to travel. Timers are an essential component of OSPF, and they help regulate the exchange of information between routers in a network.

The following are some of the OSPF timers:

Hello Timer: This timer is used to establish and maintain OSPF neighbor relationships between routers. The Hello Timer sends Hello packets at regular intervals to check if the neighboring routers are still available. The default value of the Hello Timer is 10 seconds on broadcast and point-to-point links and 30 seconds on non-broadcast links.

Dead Timer: The Dead Timer is used to determine when a neighboring router is no longer available. If the router doesn't receive any Hello packets within the specified time, it considers the neighboring router to be dead. The default value of the Dead Timer is four times the Hello Timer value on broadcast and point-to-point links and six times on non-broadcast links.
