This worked on my 64bit PC, windows 10 home.
How to find your activation key on your computer.
1) first go to and click on search button.
2) type in command prompt "CMD" (with out the quotes)
3) right click on it and select "run as administrator" .
and type this in it or Copy and paste it in with out the quotes.
wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey
4) if it gives you the activation key write it down exactly as you see it.
it will be at least 25 characters long. for example (ppppp-ppppp-ppppp-ppppp-ppppp).
it might show a few letter in upper or lower case like this (M or m for example).
5) now write down what windows 10 version (home or pro) 64bit or 32bit pc.
and write down in very neat hand writing on Paper or you can even print this out if you have a printer
6) dont store this info on the PC.

most desktop or lap-top PC's dont have that activation sticker on the outside or inside the computer, instead it's embedded into the mother board or something like that. and since this pc of mine was a new purchase, i needed that activation key, in case my hard drive goes tits up and i have to buy a new hard drive and then re-install windows 10, using the ISO file i burned to DVD disk. so i surfed online and found a link telling me how. if this works for you and your able to get that activation key, write it down, then you have to call Microsoft and make sure the activation key is a good one.....thats what i had to do . now i have my activation key...let me know if this worked for you , i hope it does,
